Itisalsoimportantthatyourinstallerunderstand
which
circuitsyouwanttoincludeas“EssentialCircuits”.
Dependingonthepowerconsumedbythesecircuits,most
orallofthemcanbeswitchedtothehomegeneratorforthe
durationofnormalpowerinterruption.
Thewattagereferencetablethatfollowswillassistyouwith
yourdecision-makingprocess.Itprovidesthewattageused
bymanyordinaryhouseholddevices.Useitasaguidewhen
selectingyouressentialcircuits.Reviewthisinformationwith
yourinstallerandaskaboutanytechnicalconsiderationsthat

Essential Circuit Selection
Whenselectingtheessentialcircuitsthatwillbeswitched
to“StandbyPower,”itisimportantthatthesumofthe
combinedcircuitloadsdoesnotexceedthewattage/
amperagecapacityofthegenerator.Tohelpyouwithyour
selectionofessentialcircuits,pleaseconsiderthefollowing:
• Addupthetotalwattageofallelectricaldevicestobe
connectedatonetime.Thistotalshould

thanthegenerator’swattagecapacity.
Theratedwattageoflightscanbetakenfromlight
bulbs.Theratedwattageoftools,appliancesand
motorscanusuallybefoundonadataplateordecal
