Too much
ambience
is being
recorded
When using a stereo X/Y microphone, the microphone may be
picking up too much unwanted noise from the surrounding
environment or from an empty room. This is a normal
occurrence.
Make sure the microphone is as close to the subject as
possible.
The record level on the video camera, DSLR camera, or
recorder may be set too high. Turn down the record level to
minimize the sound from everything except the subject.

Important: the microphones should easily mount and
dismount. Do not apply force by trying to pull the
microphone off the camera. You could damage the
microphone and camera.
