The characteristic curve represents the path of a de-

tector that has already been operational for some time.
The value has increased slightly due to contamination.
However ,the detector remains fully functional.

If there are fluctuations outside the quiescent state range, it can be

assumed that the use at the installation location has changed.
With this sort of atypical fluctuation, the causes must be rectified to

prevent a false alarm.
