ning but not actually doing the job. This may sig-
nificantly reduce the exposure level over the to-
tal working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect
the operator from the effects of vibration such
as: maintain the tool and the accessories, keep
the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.

Assembly
f
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Operation without Drill Stand
f
Use auxiliary handle(s), if supplied with the
tool.
Loss of control can cause personal
injury.
Screw the auxiliary handle
16
into the thread
9
on the drill head. If required, turn the drill head
to one of the four possible positions to achieve
a low-fatigue and safe working stance (see
“Mounting the Drill Head”).
Operation with Drill Stand
f
The safety and operating instructions for
the drill stand being used are to be strictly
observed!
For safety reasons, the machine should general-
ly be clamped in the S 500 A diamond drill
stand.
For mounting the power tool into the drill stand,
please read and observe the operating instruc-
tions of the drill stand.
Mounting/Replacing the Drill Head
f
Operation with drill stand: Before any work
on the machine itself, for longer work
breaks, as well as when not using, secure
the power tool against unintentional motion
by engaging the feed lock.
For this, read and
observe the operating instructions of the drill
stand.
Drill Head Selection
The GDB 1600 WE can be operated with the
flushing head
6
and with the suction head
19
.
For operation with wet-drilling core bits, mount
the flushing head; for operation with core bits
(dry drilling), mount the suction head.
For safety reasons, the GDB 1600 DE can only
be operated with the suction head
19
for dry
drilling core bits. This is ensured by means of a
special encoding of power tool and drill head.
Mounting the Drill Head
Loosen the clamping screw
15
on the flushing
head
6
or on the suction head
19
respectively
until the securing pin
14
is pulled completely
back into the housing.
Mount the flushing head or the suction head re-
spectively to the stop on the drill head holder
20
. The latching cogs
21
of the drill head holder
must engage in the latching grooves
7
on the
drill head. Four 90° offset positions are possible
for this. Mount the drill head in the position at
which all contol elements can be reached well.
Firmly tighten the clamping screw
15
again.
