Working safely with this machine is possible
only when the operating and safety informa-
tion are read completely and the instructions
contained therein are strictly followed.

Protect the unit from moisture and direct sunrays.
■
If the unit is not used for a longer time, the battery must be re-
moved (danger of self-discharge and corrosion).
Use Alkali-Manganese batteries exclusively.
Open the battery compartment cover 6 and insert the battery pro-
vided.
If the symbol appears on the display 4 , erroneous measure-
ment cannot be excluded. This means that, with a weak battery, it
cannot be ensured that the unit functions in an error-free manner.
The battery is exhausted and must be replaced.
Open the battery compartment cover 6 and replace the battery.
Before switching on, set the rotary switch 8 to the
function. If the function was selected before switching
on, the unit switches itself off again immediately after the
calibration.
Switching on:
For each individual depth measurement, ensure
that the rotary switch
8 is first set to the
function.
During switching on and the subsequent calibra-
tion, hold the unit so that no objects are located
within at least 0.5 m in the measuring direction.
Hold the unit with the hand around the handle
area
5 . Only in this manner is an error-free cali-
bration ensured.
