The chimney and flue provide a means of taking combusted fuel from the stove, as well as
a draft to enable the stove to work. It is essential that the flue system is kept in good
condition and there are no breaks or cracks allowing contact with any other combustible
materials of the house.
It is also essential that the flue system is kept clean and seals are maintained to ensure the
draft is not lost. A blocked chimney flue could result in performance implications, cause
serious injury or even death.
Failure to do this will affect the efficiency of the stove and may cause down draughts which
will mean dangerous products of combustion are emitted into the room which may cause
serious injury or even death.
If the connection to the chimney does not conform to these guidelines and adhere to
Building Regulations it will void the extended warranty.
The Construction, position, size and height of the chimney are all factors that affect the
performance of the flue draught – please assess with an accredited chimney specialist.
Other factors that can affect the flue draught include:
Trees or other buildings nearby causing turbulence.
High and gusty winds.
Outside temperature.
4.CONNECTION TO THE HEATING SYSTEM
NOT ALL HEATING SYSTEMS ARE SUITABLE FOR STOVES – PLEASE ENSURE THE HEATING SYSTEM
IS SUITABLE FOR A STOVE BEFORE INSTALLATION.
NEVER install this stove into a pressurised heating system, it must be open vented and
gravity fed. Please consult a heating engineer regarding suitability of your heating system.
BTU requirements MUST be confirmed with an accredited installer before this stove is
installed to ensure this stove is suitable for requirements. Boru Stoves and/or its
authorised agents will not be responsible for an appliance which is not confirmed suitable
for room and water requirements.
The flow and return pipes MUST BE CROSSFLOWED, failure to adhere to this will void your
extended warranty.
A 2kW heat leak radiator must be fitted to the gravity circuit to allow for the removal of
excess heat in case of a pump failure.
A drain valve must be installed below the lowest water outlet on the stove to isolate the
stove from the rest of the heating system.
