Ground light comes on for a
short time.
Handlebars not locked.
Electrically powered accessor-
ies remain operational for a
limited period of time.
The battery can be recharged
via the socket in the cockpit.
Version 2:
Turn the handlebars all the
way to the left.
Press and hold down but-
ton 1 .
When the ignition is switched
off, the instrument cluster re-
mains switched on for a short
time and displays any existing
fault messages.
Windscreen moves to the bot-
tom end position.
Ground light comes on for a
short time.
Steering lock engaged.
Electrically powered accessor-
ies remain operational for a
limited period of time.
The battery can be recharged
via the socket in the cockpit.
Electronic immobiliser (EWS)
The on-board electronics
access the data saved in the
vehicle key via a ring aerial
in the R/C ignition lock. The
ignition is not enabled for
starting until the engine control
unit has recognised the ignition
key as "authorised" for your
motorcycle.
Another vehicle key at-
tached to the same ring
as the vehicle key used to start
the engine could "irritate" the
electronics, in which case the
enabling signal for starting is
not issued. The warning with
the key symbol appears in the
multifunction display.
Always keep other vehicle keys
separate from the vehicle key
used to start the engine.
If you lose a key, you can have
it barred by your authorised
BMW Motorrad retailer. If you
wish to do this, you will need
to bring all other keys for the
motorcycle with you.
The engine cannot be started
by a barred ignition key, but
an ignition key that has been
barred can subsequently be
reactivated.
You can obtain spare keys
only through an authorised
BMW Motorrad retailer. The
ignition keys are part of an
integrated security system,
so the retailer is under an
obligation to check the
legitimacy of all applications for
replacement/extra keys.
