Regular Maintenance
Your Blizzard Power Plow snowplow has been designed for years of rugged,
dependable service with low maintenance. To ensure proper working condition,
follow the maintenance guidelines below and on the next page.
CAUTION: Always follow the maintenance guidelines in a timely
fashion. Failure to observe maintenance guidelines may result in
poor snowplow operation, increased component wear or part failure.
Routinely inspect the following items – perform maintenance as needed:
1. All fasteners, pins, nuts and bolts for tightness. See the recommended
maximum bolt torque chart on page 4.
2. All hydraulic hoses and hydraulic hose adapters for wear and leaks.
3. All hydraulic cylinders for leaks; inspect rod ends for corrosion and pitting.
4. Cutting edges and plow shoes for wear.
5. Clean and lubricate all electrical plugs, headlight connections, ground and
battery cables, solenoid connections and switch connections to prevent
corrosion. Apply white lithium grease at least once a month or every 75
hours of plow operation.
6. Lubricate the inner slide box with liquid white lithium grease. This will
provide free travel for both slide boxes.
7. Clean and cover deep scratches or exposed metal with Blizzard white
touch-up paint. Contact your local dealer for availability.
8. Check the hydraulic oil level in the hydraulic pump fluid reservoir. Fill the
fluid to within 3/4" from the top of the reservoir. Do not exceed this level.
Never mix different types of fluids. Contact your local dealer for replacement
Blizzard Snowplow Rapid Action Hydraulic Oil.
