General Description
Edge-QAM EQM 100 is able to feed 24 QAM channels for additional services into distribution networks near
the edge of the subscribers. For smaller networks the EQM 102 with 16 channels or the EQM 102 with 8
channels can be chosen.
The necessary MPEG transport streams are coming over IP-networks as unicast or multicast data packets
encapsulated in UDP format. The payload of the UDP packets are DVB compliant MPEG-2 transport stream
packets. These packets are input of the QAM modulator and the direct digital frequency conversion (DDS).
Output is an RF-signal in the selected frequency range that can directly feed an local CATV networks or HFC
cluster.
For the QAM modulation the standard constellations of 32 to 256 QAM are selectable. The output frequency
is adjustable in the range from 47 MHz to 862 MHz. Necessary conversions of the MPEG transportstream like
PCR-Restamping and "null-packet-insertion" are supported.
Operation and configuration is carried out via the Web browser of a PC or Laptop. For the integration in a
Network management system an Ethernet interface with SNMP agent is implemented.
