Appendix B: Maximum Distances
The table below shows how far pairs of SHM-NPRs and SHM-NPR/RJs can transmit
data to each other at specified cable thicknesses and data rates. Please note that
these measurements are for noiseless environments with not more than 20%
of peak-to-peak distortion; figures for lines run through electrically noisy
environments—near fluorescent lighting, elevators, generators, compressors,
or motors, for example—will be dramatically lower.
