If on a given channel you are using an RS/6000 compatible workstation computer that supports standard VGA
video, use the same equipment and procedures as you would to install a PS/2 compatible machine—see
Section 4.4.1
.
If you are using an RS/6000 compatible workstation that outputs its video on 13W3 or 3C3 connectors, or if
you are using an SGI (Silicon Graphics) compatible workstation, connect your computer equipment as directed
in
Section 4.4.1
, with this exception: Plug the male side of the appropriate adapter into the workstation’s video
port, then plug the video strand of your KV20x0 cable into the adapter’s HD15 female side:
• KV16RS6-2 for RS/6000 (HD15 F to 13W3 M);
• KV163C3-2 for RS/6000 etc. (HD15 F to 3C3 M); or
• KV16SGI-2 for SGI (HD15 F to 13W3 F).
If the workstation outputs sync on green (as will always be the case if it has a 3C3 video port), and your
monitors do not all support sync on green, be sure to set positions 1 through 3 of the CPU-Interface Card’s DIP
switch to OFF OFF ON, the setting that causes the Card to generate horizontal and vertical sync from sync on
green (see
Section 4.2
).
Be aware that, in order to use a UICD’s on-screen display with a non-multisync monitor, you’ll probably have
to change the display’s default synchronization. See
Section 9.5
.
