Using the Microsoft Exchange Connector
By default, the Enterprise Web Services query method is selected, which is compatible with Exchange
®
Server 2007
Service Pack 1 and above. If earlier versions of Exchange
®
Server are in use, please select WebDAV. The
functionality is the same for both cases.
The
Exchange Server Timeout
setting specifies, in seconds, how long the iCompel Data Engine should wait before
the query attempt is abandoned. The default value is 100 seconds.
When referring to a unique resource, a user will often specify the
resource name
. However, Exchange
®
Server
internally uses the
resource alias
property to uniquely track resources, which may bear no resemblance to the more
user friendly resource name. When executing a query, the iDE must resolve the resource name to a resource alias,
which it does by consulting the Exchange
®
Server
Global Address List
(
GAL
), using a
Outlook
®
Web Access
(
OWA
) call (call name:
galfind)
. If OWA is not enabled on your Exchange
®
Server, or is not accessible, then please
disable this feature. If this feature is disabled, then the resource alias must be entered in the Resources section,
and not the more user friendly resource name.
By default, this is checked and the GAL is consulted to translate each entered Resource Name to a resource alias.
The
Query Type
setting specifies what type of data should be returned. By default, calendar events are returned.
The query setting indicates the time window that data should be returned for. Only events which start or end within
the time window, or emails that received within the time window are returned. By default, data for 32 days before and
after the current date is returned. It may be desirable to reduce this window, if for example, the now and next style
view is being displayed. Reducing this time window will reduce the number of records returned and increase
processing efficiency.
If the calendar event applies to different time zone from that specified on the player displaying the media, the event
times will be displayed at the wall clock time they would occur in the players time zone.
