Replacing the shaft seal
The compressors OS.(A)74-EX are equipped with a
special shaft seal (special design for use in potentially
explosive area, see figure 6, page 31). This shaft seal
differs from the standard shaft seal by the two oil bar-
rier connections and by a special lip seal.
Mount and dismount the shaft seal according the the
maintenance instructions SW-500.
Special details for mounting the new stationary unit
To avoid damages of the shaft seal, use the mounting
sleeve which is included in the kit of the shaft seal.
• Place the mounting sleeve on the shaft until reaching
the stop.
DANGER
Risk of explosion due to a damaged lip seal!
Slide the new stationary unit over the mounting
seal.
Proceed very carefully! Do not tilt!
• Finally mount the connections, hoses and reservoir
for the oil barrier (see chapter Shaft seal, page 22).
• Before starting the compressor, make sure that the
oil barrier of the shaft seal is filled with oil.
