With a little time and experience, an operator can be-
come pro

cient in setting the de
fl
ectors at the opti-
mum positions for the task.
HINT:
From the operators position, the user can see
the left de
fl
ector gear rack and judge the position of
the de
fl
ectors.
With the de
fl
ectors at about half open, like the front
de
fl
ector in the above photo, the air stream is directed
downward under the debris and is useful for blowing
wet leaves, grass and dirt.
For moving large piles of debris, remove the halfway
pin allowing de
fl
ectors to open fully for maximum air
fl
ow.
REMEMBER:
Air velocity can be controlled by the
throttle control as well as by the de
fl
ectors.
REMEMBER:
Air stream (de
fl
ectors) should be
closed off when necessary (ie., when traveling from
one area to another, past
fl
ower and bark beds, etc.).
