8. INSTALLATION AND ACTIVATION BF072/BF073
ATTENTION: read and follow carefully all the safety instructions previusly reported, pay attention to
the instructions about the electrical system to which the appliance is connected.
»
Before starting, ensure that the boiler contains water. Before filling the boiler unplug the machine
from the socket.
Do not unscrew the security tap (2) before ensuring that the machine is not connected to the electric
outlet. If the boiler is hot and pressured unscrew the tap very slowly.
» Unscrew by half-a-turn the tap (2) to get rid of residual pressure and heat inside the boiler. When the
boiler is cool, unscrew carefully the tap and add tap-water using a funnel.
WATER MUST NOT BE DISTILLED AND/OR DEMINERALIZED. While filling the boiler, be careful not to let
water out from the inlet, at the end of the operation close the tap not too tightly. Some water drops
may come out from the iron together with the steam.
8.1 USE

Connect the power cable to a grounded socket and ensure that it is fully extended and not twisted.
Do not pull the power cable, crush it and/or stretch it.
ATTENTION: ENSURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS EQUIPPED WITH A DIFFERENTIAL SWITCH (LI-
FE-SAVING SYSTEM) AND WITH A PROTECTIVE CONDUCTOR (GROUNDING SYSTEM).

Activate the general/iron switch (3) and the boiler switch (4).

Wait for the pressure gauge (7) reach approximately 3 bars to start to work. It may take up to 20
minutes.

For dry-ironing activate only the iron switch (3).

Set the iron temperature using the knob (5) according to the fabric (the optimal temperature is 50/70 °C).

If necessary, adjust the intensity of the steam jet using the knob placed on the solenoid valve (9). The
default position is half open.
» Test the temperature on a hidden part of a cloth to be ironed. A high temperature may burn fabrics or
cause the unwelcome shiny effect. This may be avoided using an anti-shine Teflon base.

While ironing the steam ready light (6) will turn on and off depending on the pressure inside the
boiler.
Do not unscrew the tap while the boiler is pressured/in use.

Set the iron thermostat (5) in the desidered position. Press on the red button on the iron handle (8)
to deliver steam. Address the first steam jet far from people and/or animals, to a safe direction, and press
several times to get rid of possible condensation. If necessary set the steam jet flow using the knob of the
solenoid valve (9).
At the end of the job, turn off all the switches and unplug the machine from the outlet. It is not neces-
sary to empty boiler. Empty the boiler at least once a month.

When the iron stops to deliver steam, turn off all the switches. Open carefully the safety tap to get rid
of residual pressure. Wait 5 minutes for the boiler to be cooler and fill it following the instructions.
