P. 6
Please follow the particular order given below to avoid any kind of strain or premature
ageing on the YAKKAir HP / Nomad HP.
1. The two main bladders : Inflate them with the “octopus-type” Y pipe. The rigid bow and
stern ribs take shape as the air pressure increases in the kayak. Make sure to line up the RIB
with the RIB guides located at the bottom of the boat and under the deck. These RIBS are
equipped with an adjustable restraining strap. Seal the valves with the valve caps.
Do not overtwist the valves, and hold the supporting bracket when tightening,
so as not to twist and/or damage the internal bladder.
Caution: It is pointless exceeding the 3,5 psi pressure. Nothing will be gained in
performance and you risk damaging your kayak irretrievably.
2. The keel : it is the structural part of the boat, and has been pre-positioned
in the factory, but it may be necessary to recentre it both in length and width
before inflation. Inflation pressure : 6,5 psi.
3. The floor : position it on top of the supports then inflate it to the 6,5 psi pressure.
Important advice
It is important, when leaving your kayak stored for a long period of time or
when exposed to direct sunlight, to release a small amount of air pressure,
so as to avoid any one of the separate components over-inflating, which can
happen with unforeseen increases in ambient pressure / temperature.
For your information, the YAKKAir HP / Nomad HP kayaks should keep a constant air
pressure in the inflated parts for up to 24 hours, as long as the ambient temperature remains
relatively constant. After this time, or as a result of significant changes in atmospheric
pressure / temperature, your kayak may lose / gain some air pressure.
Therefore, the air pressure in all components must be checked before every outing in the kayak.
