Chapter 3: Installation Procedure

Failure to perform regularly scheduled maintenance may result in catastrophic
failure of the unit. Due to the inherent expansion and contraction of metals when
subjected to temperature changes, all components should be checked for
proper torque on a scheduled basis.

Figure 14 provides a view from the front of a BUSS with twelve circuit breakers. It
shows an example of how wires could be brought in through the bottom panel
and connected to the ungrounded, grounded, and equipment ground busbars;
however, wires from the equipment ground busbar are not shown.
Grounded inputs and outputs should be balanced between sides of the
grounded busbar; do not put all the inputs on one side and all the outputs on
the other side.
The output connections for the inputs in the left bank of circuit breakers should
be on the left side of the ungrounded busbar; output connections for the inputs
in the right bank of circuit breakers should be on the right side of the
ungrounded busbar.
Figure 15 shows a side view of how the ungrounded inputs are connected to the
circuit breakers. It also shows connections to the ungrounded and grounded
busbars. The drawing may not provide all possible wires but instead will show
only a few of each type of wires and connectors so you can more clearly see how
they connect.
