X ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
PORTA-GRILL

1.
Unpacking shipping package and set all components seperately aside.
2.
Place the firebox (1) upside down on a shipping cardboard on ground.
3.
Thread all 4 legs (2) into pre-weleded sockets at fire box.
(Legs with locking device on one side, see Assembly Diagram)
4.
Install tank support hoops (3) using (4) 3/8-16 x 3/4” hex head bolts.
Nuts are pre-welded to firebox.
Do not tighten at this time. NOTE:
One support hoop has an extra hole for attaching tank
orientation bracket (4) . See Assembly Diagram for correct
positioning of this support hoop.
5.
Install flat base spacers (5) between hoops using (4) 1/4 -20x3/4”
flat head machine screws. Tighten all bolts for tank supporting unit.
6.
Install aluminum heat shields (6) to support hoops with (8)1/4-
20x1/2” round head machine screws. Tighten all bolts for whole tank
supporting unit.
7.
Flip firebox unit onto legs and install grill supports (7) to each end of
firebox with 3/8-16 x 1” hex head bolts.

plates should face to the outside of firebox (See Assembly Diagram).
8.
Slide tank (8) into support hoops and fasten to orientation bracket
with 3/8-16x3/4” hex head bolt.
9.
Install regulator (9) to tank. Be sure arrow on regulator is in direction of gas flow.

IMPORTANT! Arrow on top front of tank must point UP!
10.
Install one end of flexible gas hose (10) to regulator and the swivel end to the manifold
assembly (11) . Use plumbers pipe compound on the manifold fitting. Tighten all
fittings, open tank valve and check for leaks using a solution of liquid soap and water.
Apply solution around fittings. If bubbles occur, fittings must be carefully tightened
more (See Section VI “
Leak Check”
Pg. 6).
11.
Check igniters for spark by depressing corresponding button for each burner. If no
spark is present, check gap between electrode and burner. It should be at about 1/8"
gap. Also, check connection at igniter button.
12.
Place lava rock grates on flat surface (cross-brace rods on the top side).Dump lava
rock on grates and spread evenly.
Note
: This is done to prevent smaller pieces from
clogging burners.
13.
Install lava rock grates with flat strips down (12) .
14.
Finally, place the cooking grill (13) into the grill supports.
