6.2.2 Replacing the storage media
New storage media should only be obtained from Beckhoff Service (see Chapter 9.1 Service and support).
In the High Performance Class, the CP32xx is equipped with the following storage media:
• one SSD, 3D-Flash in TLC configuration, 2.5-inch, 512 GB
• one SSD, 3D-Flash in TLC configuration, 2.5-inch, 1 TB
In the Smart Performance Class, the CP32xx is equipped with the following storage medium:
• one SSD, 3D-Flash in TLC configuration, 2.5-inch, 512 GB
Data transfer before replacement
If you want to exchange the SSD as recommended by Beckhoff, you must copy the data from the old to the
new SSD. You can use the Beckhoff Service Tool (BST) for this purpose. The BST is a graphical backup and
restore program for Industrial PCs with a Windows operating system. You can create an image of your
operating system and use it to back up the operating system. You can then restore the images created in
this way. You will receive the BST on a BST stick. For more information on the function of the BST, please
refer to the corresponding documentation.
If your SSD is defective and there is no backup, Beckhoff Service can provide you with a fresh Windows
image. For this to be possible, the Beckhoff PC must already have been shipped with a valid operating
system license. When installing the fresh image, the applications must be reinstalled.
Replacing the storage media
Chapter 6.2.1 Access to device components [ } 33] shows how to access the storage media.
On the storage media there are stickers that protrude beyond the storage media. To replace the storage
media, pull them out of the device by the stickers (see Fig. 23). Then plug the new storage media into the
device in the same direction.

The old storage media must be disposed of in accordance with the national electronic waste regulations.
