One chiller must be equipped with a cooling circuit expansion unit to cool the DMDs. This chiller can be
recognized by the extra coupling for the hoses at the front (reference 1 Image 2-5). The expansion unit has to
be installed on site.

For installation instructions see documentation of the chiller. All latest documentation files are
available on the Barco website. How to connect the chiller(s) with the projector is described in this
document.

Chiller cooling circuit expansion for DMD cooling

The valve coupling of this expansion unit is of the same type and size as the standard installed coupling on the
chiller. However, the hoses of the DMD cooling which have to be connect with the coupling of this expansion
unit has a smaller diameter than the hoses for the Red, Green and Blue laser cooling. Note that the cooling
circuit expansion unit for the DMD cooling has to be installed on site.

The chiller cooling circuit expansion for DMD cooling may only be installed by trained technicians. Installation
instructions are included in the service documentation of the chiller.

Hoses

Only hoses specified by Barco can be used to couple the cooling liquid of the chiller with the cooling circuit of
the projector. The hoses specified are specially designed for this purpose. Using other hoses than those will
have impact on the cooling capacity of the system and may make the system fail!

The hoses are available in different lengths up to 10 meter which is also the maximum distance allowed
between chiller and projector. The chiller side of the hose has a straight coupling, the projector side has a 90
degree tube elbow with coupling. The flow direction at the coupling is always from female towards male. The
hoses are isolated and reinforced for optimal performance.

The hoses for the RED, GREEN and BLUE laser cluster cooling have a larger diameter size than the hoses for
the DMD cooling. However, take into account that the couplings are of the same type and size. So, ensure to
connect the right hose with the right cooling channel.
