USE
5.1 VENTILATION
If wood is to burn, it needs air. For each kilo of wood that you put on the appliance (door
closed), 10 - 15 m
3
of extra air is needed. That means about 35 m
3
per hour!
Depending on how the appliance has been installed, the combustion air will either be
drawn directly from outside or from the living room itself. If the air is drawn in from the
room, it must be ventilated by an opening in the external wall.
The air drawn in from outside (opening in the external wall) may be fi tted with a sliding
grille or fl ap. Ensure that the fl ap is always open before using the appliance.
5.2 GETTING THE APPLIANCE GOING
When you start the appliance, the chimney is still cold and there is little draught. This
means that the chimney’s capacity to draw in air is limited. That is why the air supply
has to be assisted by opening the locking (and/or the door) and air supply slider. Use
dry
, fi ne wood and some scrunched-up paper or fi relighters to start the appliance.
