LED indicators
LED displays in normal operation
The sensor status indicator (green LED) is continuously on
in normal operation. If there is a malfunction, for example
overload at the output, the display flashes.
In normal operation the switching status indicator (yellow
LED) shows sensor actuation depending on the switching
function. For normally open sensors the indicator is on
when the sensor is actuated, and for normally closed
sensors the reverse is the case.
LED indicator for operation
Within defined time windows (see section 5.2) the sensor
indicates readiness for a command using the LEDs.

The result of the command which was started is also
indicated by LEDs.

Operation
This section describes local operation of the sensor. For
IO-Link sensors additional functions are available. These
starting
To begin operation the input DI must be connected to L+
for a prescribed amount of time. A command can be
started when the connection is interrupted. The various
commands are initiated using different time windows:
– Full calibration: 2 to 7 seconds
– Empty calibration: 7 to 12 seconds
– Reset to factory defaults: 30 to 35 seconds
If the connection between DI and L+ is interrupted outside
of the specified time windows, no command is started and
the sensor returns to normal operation.
After the connection has been interrupted a new sequence
can be started at any time.
For IO-Link devices, the DI teach input can be deactivated
via the
Device Access Lock.Local parametrization
parameter. Local operation is then not possible.
5.3
Calibrate
The switching threshold can be taught using a full
calibration or an empty calibration.
For a full calibration the switching threshold is set so that
the status
Container full, object present
is reliably detected.
Correspondingly, for an empty calibration the switching
threshold is set so that the status
Container empty, object
not present
is reliably detected.
In most applications, full calibration is usually
sufficient. For a secure switch-off despite any
present residues and build-up, empty calibration
can be performed in critical applications.
