Mechanical Problems:
Although mechanical problems are rare, there are a few high wear/stress areas that could
develop problems. If you have a mechanical problem please see the symptoms below.
If
Check
Saw head is not level – as
recognized by cut wood
being thicker or thinner on
one side vs. the other side.
Move the saw head to the operator’s end of the mill and open the
moveable guide to its maximum width.
Take a measurement from the down hook tooth of the blade to the
top of the bunk on both the left and right side of the blade, as close
as possible to the guides.
Make note of the difference in the measurement of the two sides.
If the measurements are the same then the roller guides need to be
reset. Proceed to the section – GUIDES on
pages 53-57
.
If one side of the blade measures differently than the other a head
leveling adjustment is needed.
To make the head leveling adjustment you will need (2) two blocks
about 4" thick.
NOTE:
Each block needs to be the same thickness and at
least 6" long.
Place the blocks on top of the carriage’s horizontal beam and under
the main vertical head beam.
Let the head down on top of the blocks until the lower side of the
saw head touches with little pressure on the block.
Next, on the higher side of the saw head loosen the (4) bolts on the
ball screw raise and lower mount to let the head down onto the
block.
Retighten the (4) bolts on the ball screw raise and lower mount.
Then raise the saw head and re-measure from the down hook tooth
of the blade to the top of the bunk as previously done. If necessary,
repeat leveling steps above until both sides of the saw head
measure the same distance.
Set the guides with the same down pressure on both sides 3/16” to
1/4".
