MODEL 300 COMBUSTION ANALYZER
4-10
Instruction 24-9223
Equipment Needed (See Section 6 for Part Numbers)
• Thermometer, precision grade, 0° to 220°F (–20° to 150°C)
• Boiling Water Bath
• Potentiometer Adjustment Tool
Procedure
1. Remove filter/trap.
Important:
This step prevents boiling water from being
sucked up through the probe.
2. Remove control panel per Section 4.1.
3. Power up the analyzer as follows:
a. Turn on the analyzer by either plugging it in, or by setting its
battery pack switch to ON.
b. Press CAL key to start the 60 second calibration cycle.
c. When the word FUEL appears on left display, press FUEL key to
select any one of the seven fuels.
d. Press RUN key to start analyzer.
4. Press left SELECT key until TEMP indicator is lit.
5. Immerse probe tip and thermometer into a bath of boiling water (Fig.
4-8).
6. Wait 60 seconds to allow the thermocouple temperature to stabilize;
then read the water temperature on the combustion analyzer’s left
display. Compare this reading to the temperature indication on the
thermometer.
7. Using a potentiometer adjustment tool, adjust Thermocouple Span pot
R19 (Fig. 4-6) until the analyzer’s temperature readout matches the
thermometer’s temperature indication.
8. Remove probe from boiling water; press RUN key to stop analyzer.
