4. Installation
The supporting floor must be level and capable of sustaining the weight of the emergency luminaires. In addition,
the following conditions must be met at the place of installation:
• There must be no risk of the emergency luminaire being damaged by vehicles or other external impact.
• The luminaire must be clearly visible, if possible from all sides.
Release the screws of the luminaire cover on the side with a suitable screwdriver, and lift the cover off the lumi-
naire housing. Then remove the two screws on the mounting plate of the emergency luminaire. After this you can
simply open the mounting plate upwards, together with the luminaire electronics. Break through the pre-punched
holes on the left and right sides of the luminaire housing, mount the screwed cable glands supplied and introduce
the power cables to the housing.
Decide which pre-punched fastening holes on the back of the housing you wish to use. Break through these
holes, and then mount the luminaire housing on the wall or ceiling, using suitable screws and plastic washers.
Connect the power cables as shown in the connection diagrams in section 5 below. Then you can swing back the
mounting plate, together with the luminaire electronics, back into place and fasten it with the two screws provi-
ded.
Clean the cover. The surface must be clean, dry and free from grease. Attach the supplied self-adhesive picto-
gram in the middle of the cover.
The cover should then be replaced, and fixed in place with the screws provided.
5. Electrical connections
As standard practice the luminaire will be delivered in maintained lighting operating mode (see section 5.2 below).
Special requirements of a design nature (such as Ex classification, corrosion protection and the like) should be
checked on site and complied with. Functional control and checking of all safety facilities and safety measures
should be carried out, and a documentary record kept. All the applicable regulations of the VDE (German Asso-
ciation of Electrical Engineers) and other higher authorities are to be observed and complied with.
5.1 Standby operating mode: connecting the L, N and PE leads
1) Standby operating mode
Luminaire in standby operating mode. For charging the battery, the lamp only has a continuous phase (L) con-
nection to the power supply. When a power supply is present, the lamp is not operational. The lamp only goes
into operation when there is a power failure. In case of a power failure the luminaire automatically switches into
emergency lighting mode. Finally you need to connect the battery to the power supply provided (prepared plug
connection).
