Storage system for mechanical motor preparation
7. Preparing the components for
mechanical cleaning
Demount all adapters and tools from the handpieces or motors and
install the individual components on their respective storage trays.
Fig. 6
If the tools are extremely encrusted e. g. by coagulated proteins,
mechanical cleaning processes may not lead to acceptable results in
all cases. Consequently, a manual cleaning process must be applied in
such cases.
8. Cleaning program
All the Aesculap components depicted or listed on pages 2-3 are
machine-cleanable.
The components cleared for mechanical processing can be processed
in this way only when using their associated storage trays as well as
suitable detergents and thermic disinfection programs.
Use a cleaning and disinfecting program in which cleaning is carried
out with an enzyme-neutral cleaning solution. Any application of
other detergents will result in damage to the components. In the
cleaning cycle, the temperature must not exceed 50 °C. The final rinse
accompanied by thermic disinfection has to be carried out with fully
desalinated water.
Use e. g. the VARIO-TD process by Miele (see fig. 7).

Drying
With the
HiLAN
handpieces, some fluid may remain inside the shaft,
even if the drying program has progressed correctly. This fluid should
be removed by “shaking out”. This does not lead to a reduction in the
service life or any other complications to be expected.
9. Maintenance
After the cleaning procedure, the components have to be lubricated
according to their respective instructions for use. This is imperative
especially for the
HiLAN
, the
miniLine
and the components with
INTRA
coupling.
10. Sterilization
For sterilization, the components can remain on their storage trays.
Sterilize the components immediately after cleaning them.
Use a steam sterilizing process, observing the following rules:
The sterilization has to be done according to a validated steam
sterilization procedure (e. g. in a sterilizer according to EN 285/ANSI/
AAMI/ISO 11134-1993, ANSI/AAMI ST46-1993 and validated
according to EN 554/ISO 13683). When the fractional vacuum
procedure is used, the sterilization must be carried out with the
134 °C/2 bar program with a minimum dwell time of 5 minutes.
Ø
Only use the dedicated storage tray for each
component. In order to ensure that this is the case,
note the symbol on the storage tray (fig. 6) and the
table in chapter 1.
Ø
Maintain and sterilize the components immediately
after mechanical cleaning.
