INTRODUCTION
The Naim ARO pick up arm was originally designed to fit the Linn LP12 turntable using a Linn
cartridge. Over the years owners have used alternative cartridges or used the arm on different
turntables. Due to the arms design limitations, when using alternative cartridges, the correct
overhang requirement is not achieved. This results in tracking distortion, leading to poor sound
quality and damage to your records.
As a result of a close relationship between the two companies, the Naim Slide was designed to
allow owners of Avid turntables to use the ARO pick up arm and make accurate adjustments during
installation, so any cartridge combination can be successfully used with the correct overhang.
After a long relationship between Naim and Linn spanning many decades, Naim now uses AVID as
it reference vinyl source, typically with a Dynavector cartridge….correctly installed.
