Procedures
4.1
Configuring the Modem
The following is the step-by-step procedure describes how to configure the US Robotics
modem settings for proper operation with the PARTNER ACS Serial Port.
1.
Connect the modem to a PC by attaching the DB-9 to DB-25 cable to the PC’s
COM port. From the DB-25 side of the cable, connect the modem.
2.
On the modem, restore factory defaults by turning off the modem, setting DIP
switch 7 to the down position, and turning on the modem. Then turn off the
modem.
3.
Set DIP switches 3 and 8 down and all others up. Turn on the modem.
4.
Use a terminal emulation program, such as HyperTerminal, on the PC and access
the modem via the COM port from step 1.
5.
Type the following initialization string that will write the desired configuration to
the modem’s NVRAM:
at&f0q1e0s0=3&w
Note:
The
0
’s in the string above are zeroes.
6.
Turn off the modem and remove it from the DB-9 to DB-25 cable.
4.2
Connecting to PARTNER
This is the step-by-step procedure for connecting the US Robotics modem to the
PARTNER ACS R7 processor. The procedure can be performed while the PARTNER is
on and operating.
1.
With the modem off, set DIP switches 4 and 8 down and all others up.
2.
Attach the Null Modem to the modem followed by the RJ-45 to DB-25 adaptor.
3.
Connect this to the PARTNER’s “admin” port with a standard RJ-45 cable.
4.
Connect an analog phone line to the “line” jack on the modem. If a PARTNER
extension is to be used as the analog phone line, follow the “Programming
PARTNER” procedure that follows.
5.
Turn the modem on.
