8.2. Detection photocell adjustment
•
The proper operation of the PNG gate requires the correct alignment of the photocells: i.e., the infrared
beam must be as best as possible centred on the corresponding reflector. Moreover, their sensitivity must be
correctly adjusted, so as to ensure an optimal detection level.
•
Proceed as follows to adjust the cells. The equipment must be powered, and the reflectors and the smoked
plexiglass strip over of the cells must be clean.
--
Set the sensitivity of the potentiometer (
26:1
) to the maximum, i.e., on the position "H". You can adjust
each cell vertically by loosening the screws (
26:2
) and horizontally by loosening the screws (
26:3
), until
the red LED (
26:4
) goes off. At this moment the alignment is correct.
--
Turn the potentiometer (
26:1
) gradually towards the position "L" until the yellow LED (
26:5
) goes off.
--
Increase the cell detection sensitivity by turning the potentiometer (
26:1
) gently towards the position "H"
until the yellow LED (
26:5
) goes on again. Then tune up the detection sensitivity turning the
potentiometer (
26:1
) a little further towards the position "H".
--
When the desired result is obtained, do not forget to tighten the screws (
26:2
) and/or (
26:3
) again.
Note:
Each photocell comprises a red LED (alarm LED), which goes on in case of incorrect or unreliable
operation. Correct and stable operation will be obtained when the necessary adjustment causes the
LED to go off. It is quite normal for this LED to momentarily go on as the detector switches. In the
event of an overload or short-circuit, the alarm LED will blink.

Precautions in use:
--
The lens of the cell must be kept clean. All optical systems being influenced by the environment in
which they are situated, the presence of haze, mist, smoke, fumes, dust, etc. may affect their operation
by reducing the sensing distance.
--
When cleaning the lens, never use base products, aromatics, hydrocarbons, or solving agents.
Reminder:
Even though the yellow LED of all cells is on, it is advisable to check their connection to the PLC,
and make sure the corresponding LEDs are also on and go off whenever the cells are occulted.
