Answering Machine
The answering machine is equipped with vocal operator
guidance. Pay attention to the instructions and information.
Setting the language
The answering machine speaks" German and cannot be altered.
Setting the weekday and time on the answering machine
The weekday and time of receipt is announced when any of the messages
is played back (24−hour format). The weekday and time are set using the
handset menu. Refer to Page 41 for the sequence of menu option selec-
tions.

After switching the answering machine on, the outgoing message, heard
by the caller, is played back. In addition, the
LED flashes.
Recorded message indicator
If a new message or memo has been recorded, the
LED flashes in the
handset display.
Maximum recording time
The maximum recording time of the answering machine (for outgoing
message and messages) is 12 minutes. The maximum length of a mess-
age is 3 minutes. When the memory capacity for incoming messages is
used up, the recording of messages is automatically deactivated. No more
calls are recorded. The caller receives a message automatically, indicating
that no messages can be left.
If there is a pause in excess of 5 seconds during recording, the
call is automatically ended.
Setting the volume
The volume can be set to one of 10 different levels.

Setting the number of rings (answering delay)
It is possible to set the number of times the phone should ring before the
answering machine takes the call. It can be set between 2 and 9 rings, and
Tollsaver mode is also available to enable pre−remote access free of
charge.
The tollsaving pre−remote access feature can be used to check whether
messages have been received on your answering machine from an exter-
nal telephone.
If new messages have been left on the answering machine, your call
is taken after just 2 rings of the phone.
If no messages have been recorded, the call is taken after 6 rings.
Place the receiver on−hook before the 6th ring. This means that no
charges ensue.

The setting is saved and is played
back.
Call screening
When the answering machine is switched on, you can listen to incoming
calls without actually taking the call.
If you do not want to listen to callers, simply set the answering
machine volume to zero.
If you want to take the call as the outgoing message is being
played or a message is being recorded, simply take the call in the
normal way.
