The SysID analyzer system is different than most PC-based setups. It uses a proprietary DSP interface
card instead of the computer’s own sound card. This DSP card utilizes balanced mini-DIN audio connec-
tions, so you will need to build an adapter cable to connect the unbalanced RCA outputs of the MP-200 to
the balanced mini-DIN inputs of the SysID DSP card. The typical equipment needed for this setup (in
addition to the computer with a SysID analyzer card) is a mic preamp, a measurement microphone and the
cables to plug it all together. Refer to the appendix for converting dB settings on the MP-200 into gain for
the external mic preamp gain adjustment in the SysID software.

Using the MP-200 Measurement Preamp System with SIA-Smaart

®

To create room or speaker frequency response measurements, audio analysis software packages such as
SiaSoft’s Smaart perform a correlation comparison between a line level signal sent into a system and the
acoustical output of that system. The typical equipment needed for this setup (in addition to the computer
with a sound card) is a two-channel mixer, a mic preamp, a measurement microphone, a pink noise genera-
tor and the cables to plug it all together. The MP-200 simplifies this setup by combining all of these
components into a single, compact, battery-powered unit. Simply connect the pink noise output of the
MP-200 to your audio system’s input, place the CM-10 measurement microphone in the listening position
and plug it into the MP-200, now connect the output of the MP-200 to your computer sound card and
you’re ready to run.
