4.0 VSS-401-x
Operation
VSS-401-x may be operated in two modes: SEQUENCE SELECT and
RANDOM SELECT.
4.1
Sequence Select Mode
A momentary switch connected to the SEQUENCE SELECT PIN, when
activated and released, causes the next video source to be routed to the
video output. If the video source is at the highest-numbered input,
pressing and releasing the SEQUENCE SELECT PIN causes the router to
“wrap-around” to the first video source. The highest-numbered input is
determined from the configuration DIP switches #3 and #4.
4.2
Random Select Mode
Momentary switches connected to each of the four OUTPUT STATUS /
RANDOM SELECT PINs, when activated and released, routes the
corresponding video source to the video output. Selecting the same
source as the current selection has no effect. If a source is selected that
is higher than the number of sources configured by DIP switches #3 and
#4, it will not be selected. The OUTPUT STATUS / RANDOM SELECT
PINs share the same physical connector pin.
4.3 Output
Status
In both SEQUENCE SELECT and RANDOM SELECT modes, the
OUTPUT STATUS / RANDOM SELECT PINs can be used as external
status indicators. The currently selected source’s corresponding OUTPUT
STATUS pin will be actively driven to ground. This pin is capable of
sinking sufficient current to drive an LED. Ensure the LED has a current-
limiting resistor of sufficient power rating. Sink current of 10-20mA is
recommended and should never exceed 50mA.
4.4
Briefer Activate Pin
Optionally, a toggle switch to the BRIEFER ACTIVATE PIN may be
connected. DIP switches #1 and #2 are used to configure the designated
briefer input. The toggle switch should connect the BRIEFER ACTIVATE
PIN to ground. Upon de-activation of the the BRIEFER ACTIVATE PIN
(open switch), the previously selected input is routed to the video output.
Note: the designated briefer input may be any of the four available inputs
and is completely independent of the number of inputs (configured with
DIP switches #3 and #4). If briefer functions are not required, leave the
BRIEFER ACTIVATE PIN unconnected (open).
