Chapter 6: Driver installation

 when the InstallShield Wizard window appears. Follow 

screen instructions to continue installation.

Follow these instructions when installing the Broadcom

®

 Gigabit LAN 

controller base driver for the Red Hat

®

 Enterprise operating system.

Prepare the LAN driver installation

Install first the Kernel Development tools before building the driver from 

the TAR file. To install the kernel development application:

1.   Insert the Liunx OS installation CD disk 1 to the optical drive.
2.   Double click Application > System setting > Add/Remove application.
3.   Select Kernel Development from the development tools.

4.   Follow the instructions on the screen to finish installation.

Building the driver from the TAR file

1.  Insert the motherboard/system support CD to the optical drive. Then 

select optional device on the Linux OS platform. 

2.  Copy the base driver tar files from the suooprt CD to the client HDD. 

The file name: tg3-<Version>.tar.gz

 

Example:  If the drvier version is 3.58, then the file name should be 

tg3-3.58.tar.gz 

 

The Broadcom LAN driver for Linux OS is located in :

 

\Drivers\BCM5721 LAN\B57BCMCD_SV_943\Linux\Driver\
