After-Shutdown Inspection
1
DANGER
Crushing or Pinching Hazard. The rotor is free-
wheeling and can coast for a long time after the
engine has been turned off. Do not enter the hop-
per until the rotor has stopped completely.
1
WARNING
After shutdown, look carefully for burning or
smoldering material. Extinguish completely.
Continue inpection for at least one-half hour
after the battery disconnect switch is turned off.
❏
Check for the following and make the necessary
corrections:
•
Leaks
•
Overheated bearings
•
Combustible material on a hot engine, in
exhaust areas, or on other parts
•
Loose material lying on the belt, the feed chain,
or in the hopper
•
Frayed drive belts
•
Frayed edges of the conveyor belt
•
Worn skirt rubber
•
Fire hazards. See “Fire Prevention After Shut-
down” on page 51.
•
Depleted fire extinguisher or water can
•
Damaged or missing guards, safety devices, or
decals
•
Conditions that can cause downtime or delays
at the next start up
❏
Check the conveyor and main frame for wear from
the belt rubbing. As needed to prevent further wear,
add a fish plate made of abrasion resistant material.
❏
Check the engine oil on the dipstick (see Figure 96
on page 66).
❏
Check the clutch oil tank for proper level (about
3/4 full on the sight gauge).
❏
Check the hydraulic oil level on the sight gauge at
the hydraulic tank when the fluid is cool (see
Figure 100 on page 67). Do not overfill.
