2.3 Product properties
Hazard to persons due to improper
handling
• Use the device only for the intended
purpose.
• Never use the device for aspiration
in the low vacuum range (e.g. tho-
racic drainage).
Damage to the device due to improper
handling
• Never aspirate flammable, corrosive
or explosive liquids or gases.
• Do not drop the device.
• Do not operate the device if there is
obvious damage to the housing.
2.3.1 ASSKEA secretion aspirators S-series
The ASSKEA secretion aspirators S-series
are exceptionally convenient aspiration de-
vices for stationary use.
The devices are operated via a mains cable
to the 230 V mains power supply. The desired
vacuum is generated by a maintenance-free
vacuum pump. An overtemperature protec-
tion prevents the aspiration device from over-
heating and leads to its automatic switch-off.
After it is switched on via the power switch,
the vacuum pump generates a vacuum
in the tubing system and in the secretion
canister, which is used to aspirate secre-
tion (via a suitable sterile aspiration cathe-
ter). The aspirate is directed away from the
patient and collected in the secretion canis-
ter. Once the secretion canister is full, aspi-
ration is stopped by means of a mechanical
overflow protection integrated into the lid of
the reusable secretion canister or a self-seal-
ing bacterial filter in the disposable liner
´OneWay´.
Flow rate is adjusted by using the vacuum
regulator.
The reusable secretion canister or holder for
the external canister ‘Bag’ is attached by di-
rectly pushing it onto the guide rails on the
housing of the aspiration device (figs. 8, 9).
The vacuum connection between the aspi-
ration device and the secretion canister is
made via the connecting tube (figs. 1, 2 (C)).
