Ask a person to lie on the bed and turn on the bed exit detection
system. Check that when the person gets off the bed, the bed exit
alarm is triggered.
10.
Ask a person to lie on the bed and turn on the VariZone patient
movement detection system. Check that when the person gets off the
bed, the patient movement alarm is triggered.
11.
Check that the manual CPR release mechanism works correctly.
12.
Check that the bed extension can be extended and retracted, and
locks correctly in either position.
13.
Check that linen shelf extends and retracts, and latches securely in
the closed position.
14.
Apply the brakes and attempt to push the bed forwards. If any of the
braking castors rotates it should be adjusted or replaced as necessary
– refer to the product Service Manual.
15.
Check that the steering lock operates effectively. Adjust or replace
the brake/steering castor as necessary – refer to the product Service
Manual.
16.
Raise the side rails. Check that the side rails move smoothly and
lock securely in the raised position.
17.
Examine the power cord and plug. If either is damaged they must be
replaced as a complete assembly. Do not use rewireable plugs or
extension cords.
18.
Examine all other visible flexible cables for damage and
deterioration.
19.
Check that all nuts, bolts and other fasteners are present and
adequately tightened.
20.
Visually examine all bed accessories for damage, paying particular
attention to fastenings and moving parts. On lifting poles, examine
the strap and handle carefully; if loose stitching or fraying is found
replace the strap and handle as a complete assembly.
