Changes in Patient Position
When the patient changes position from lying to sitting, or reversed,

surface, to make adjustments to the mattress pressure.
From Lying to Sitting
– increase pressure control.
From Sitting to Lying
– decrease pressure control.
This adjustment should be in conjunction with independent clinical
determination of appropriate support.
Manual-only system
Convert to manual-only system:
Press and hold the minus (-) button at least 10 seconds in unlock
mode.
Return to semi-automatic system:
Press and hold the plus (+) button at least 10 seconds in unlock
mode.
How to unplug the heel zone valves:
There are 5 Heel Zone cells located in the 16 Active (Alternating)

Press the button (1) on the valve and pull on the tube (2) to separate
the two parts in order to disconnect and permanently vent the upper

When this function is no longer required then reconnect the two parts

Transport Mode
Transporting the patient on the Alpha Active 5 mattress overlay.
1.
Disconnect the tube-set from the pump. See Figure 4.
2.
Place the cap over the end of the tubeset. See Figure 5.
With the cap attached the mattress will automatically switch to
transport mode.
Mattress support will remain for up to 12 hours in Transport Mode.
To resume normal operation, reconnect the tubeset and run the pump.
