3.9.4. Fitting the Coaxial Flue (Ø 60/100 Vertical)
IMPORTANT!!
The vertical starter with integral fl ue gas analysis point
supplied with the fl ue kit must be used when terminating the
fl ue vertically.
Contents of vertical fl ue (3318645)
1 x Vertical fl ue terminal
1 x Vertical starter (with integrated test point)
1 x Flue clamp
2 x Screws
1 x Flue clamp seal
2 x lip seals (60mm)
1 x lip seal (100mm)
The vertical fl ue kit is supplied with a specially designed
weather proof terminal fi tted, it can be used with a fl at or
pitched roof. The vertical fl ue useable length with the pitched
roof fl ashing are indicated in Fig. 5
Before proceeding to fi t the fl ue, ensure that the maximum
fl ue length has not been exceeded (See 3.9.3 Page 18);
Mark the position of the fl ue in the ceiling and/or roof (see fi g.
5 for distance from wall to the centre of the fl ue), cut a hole
through the ceiling and/or roof and fi t the fl ashing plate to the
roof;
N
OTE
: DO NOT cut the vertical fl ue kit
To connect the vertical fl ue kit to the boiler, fi rst the vertical
starter with integrated fl ue gas analysis test point must be
push fi tted onto the exhaust manifold and secured using the
fl ue clamp and fl ue clamp seal;
The vertical fl ue then passes through the fl ashing plate and
push fi ts into the vertical adaptor.
N
OTE
:
Pay attention not to dislodge the lip seals in the vertical
starter when engaging it onto the appliance and when inserting
the vertical fl ue kit.
Should extensions be required they are available in 1 metre
lengths. The vertical starter must always be connected
directly to the appliance and the extensions installed between
it and the vertical fl ue kit.
In the event that an extension piece needs to be shortened it
must always be cut at the male end and it must be ensured
that the inner fl ue and outer fl ue remain at the same length.
N
OTE
:
When cutting the fl ue ensure that it is cut squarely and
that all burrs are removed to ensure that when the fl ue is
assembled the lip seals are not damaged upon insertion.
When utilising the vertical fl ue system, the fl ue must be
adequately supported to prevent the weight of the fl ue being
transferred to the appliance fl ue connection by using 1 fl ue
bracket per extension.
When the fl ue passes through a ceiling or wooden fl oor, there
must be an air gap between any part of the fl ue system and any
combustible material. The use of a ceiling plate will facilitate
this. As well as this, where a fl ue passes from one room to
another a fi re stop must be fi tted to prevent the passage of
smoke or fi re, irrespective of the structural material through
which the fl ue passes.
