FUEL SUMPS

The aircraft has two fuel sumps (one in each of the

wing tanks) with quick-drain valves that must be

checked during preflight operations. The wing sump

quick-drain valves are located on the underside of the
wing just outboard of the where the main landing
gear legs enter the fuselage.

ENTRY & EGRESS, CANOPY OPERATION

The Lightning LS-1 Canopy is latched and unlatched

by an exterior and an interior latch. The exterior
canopy latch (see Figure S11-6) is located on the top

of the aft edge of the canopy and the interior canopy

latch (see Figure S11-7) is on the underside of the

canopy at the same location.
