Note: Once in calibration mode the helicopter will fly as if it is in Mode 3 with no AAT Function, even

though the tail switch indicates Mode 1. This is normal and indicates that you have successfully en

-

tered the calibration mode.

To perform calibration, hover the helicopter in place for 4 minutes. It is important to hover the helicop-

ter as smoothly as possible, maintaining a steady height with minimal control input. After 4 minutes,

land the helicopter and immediately unplug the battery. The Exera 130 CX will now be recalibrated to

account for aged motors and battery as well as the pilot’s flying environment. To avoid incorrect

calibration, inexperienced pilots may wish to ask a more experienced pilot to help them.

The effectiveness of ultrasonic ranging is heavily dependent on the surface that is being measured.

Hard, reflective surfaces reflect ultrasonic pulses well and therefore result in increased sensing dis-

tance. On the other hand, softer, more acoustically absorbent materials significantly reduce sensing

distance. In particular, performance in Mode 1 over carpet, furniture, or other soft materials will result

in degraded performance.

Devices using ultrasonic ranging can interfere with one another if operated in close proximity. There-

fore, it is important that multiple Exera 130 CX helicopters in modes 1 and 2 not be flown within 30 feet

of each other.

Ultrasonic sensors (transceivers) generate sound waves around 40kHz. These sound waves can disturb

some animals, including dogs. We recommend that you avoid flying the Exera 130 CX around dogs as

doing so may cause them to behave erratically.

Selecting a Flying Area

Calibration

The Exera 130 CX is a micro class helicopter designed for indoor flying spaces, such as a living room, ga-

rage, or gymnasium. You’ll want to select an open area free of people and obstructions. We suggest an

area with at least 12-feet by 12-feet of floor space and no less than 8-foot ceilings when making your

first few flights.

After you’ve properly trimmed the helicopter and become familiar with its handling and capabilities

you may be able to fly in other smaller and less open areas, but it’s always more fun to fly indoors in

spaces that are larger and more open when possible.
