In Mode 3, the ultrasonic sensors are not active and the pilot has full control of throttle.

Flying in Mode 3

Calibration

First time and low time pilots should use the default setting of

 Mode 1

. This allows the pilot to learn

the basic controls of moving the helicopter forwards/backwards, left/right, and rotating left/right with-

out needing to control the altitude.

As skill improves, the pilot will want to control the altitude. At this time, it is recommended to move

the mode control switch to

Mode 2

, which allows the pilot to control the altitude with the throttle stick

while still offering unprecedented Ceiling Avoidance technology.

Once the pilot is comfortable flying in

Mode 2

, they can move the mode control switch to

Mode 3

In

Mode 3

the AAT module is turned off, and all throttle input comes directly from the pilot. The pilot

must use the throttle to control the altitude and avoid obstacles overhead.

Each Exera 130 CX helicopter is factory calibrated to ensure excellent performance in

Modes 1 and 2

.

However, due to variations in flying environment (altitude, temperature, and humidity) and the age of

batteries and motors, the helicopter may require recalibration if the helicopter does not rise off the

ground or it rises beyond 3-4 feet in

Mode 1.

Calibration should be performed in a closed space with little or no air movement. Fans and air condi-

tioning units should be turned off, and windows should be shut. To enter calibration mode, the pilot

should set the tail-switch in

Mode 1,

power on the transmitter and then plug in the battery as usual.

Once the helicopter initializes, raise the throttle stick to half and then quickly bring it down to zero

again. Then, quickly toggle the tail switch back and forth from position 1 to position 3 five times ending

up in position 1. Upon successfully entering calibration mode, the user will hear two quiet, high fre-

quency “chirping” sounds, which will indicate that the helicopter is in calibration mode.
