Air Suspension - Operational Sequence (Spirit of Mobility) - Continued
As an option, an exterior light and buzzer may be used as a warning to the driver and
passengers that the suspension is kneeling or the ramp is being deployed.
When stopping for non-wheelchair passenger, drivers may choose to maintain the
vehicle at its normal ride height condition or kneel the front of the vehicle to ease
loading of ambulatory passengers. To kneel the vehicle the driver depresses the
momentary kneel switch and kneels the front when the door opens, this is known as a
front kneel. Stops for loading of wheelchair bound occupants, or persons with mobility
limitations needing the ramp deployed, the driver depresses the kneel switch, opens the
door and the front will kneel, the driver then presses the ramp deploy switch and the
rear of the vehicle will kneel, this is known as a full kneel.
Front Kneel

Driver pulls into position, places the vehicle transmission shifter in the park
position and applies the park brake.

Driver opens door by pressing and holding open door switch until door is fully
opened.

Driver then depresses the momentary kneel switch located on the center
console.

Door open limit switch sends signal to Suspension controller to kneel the
front of the vehicle.

The Front kneel drops the front by 3 3/8” at the center of the step.

When the door is closed the door closed limit switch activates the kneel recovery
to ride height.
