With the purchase of this digital mV meter, you have decided to work with a quality instrument. It has been
especially developed for aquarium use. With this unit, you are able to continuously control the redox potential of
your aquarium water.
1. Theory
The redox potential is an electric value that is a parameter for the “purity” of the water.
The redox potential in the aquarium is important:
- For evaluation of the water quality in the saltwater aquarium. The ideal value is between 300 and 450 mV. If
necessary, it can be raised to the desired value with ozone. The higher the value, the more the oxidation
reactions predominate, i. e. the “cleaner” the water is.
- When operating anaerobic denitrification filters (nitrate filters). Here, the redox potential is used to assess the
activity. The ideal value is between -300 mV and -100 mV.
