Making Power Measurements
Power measurement is accomplished using a broadband (1 MHz to 3000 MHz) RF detector,
P/N 5400-71N50. The power monitor displays measured power in dBm or Watts.
Entering Power Monitor Mode
Step 1. Press the
MODE
key.
Step 2. Use the Up/Down arrow key to scroll to
POWER MONITOR
. Press
ENTER
to
select power monitor mode.
Zeroing the Power Monitor
Step 3. With no power applied to the DUT, press the
ZERO
soft key from the Power
menu. Wait a few seconds while the Site Master accumulates samples of the qui-
escent power level. When complete,
ZERO ADJ: ON
is displayed in the message
area.
Measuring High Input Power Levels
Step 4. Insert an attenuator between the DUT and the RF detector, sufficient to insure
that the input power to the Site Master is no greater the 20 dBm.
Step 5. Press the
OFFSET
soft key.
Step 6. Enter the attenuation in dB using the keypad. Press
ENTER
to complete the en-
try. The message area will show
OFFSET is ON
along with the entered value in
dB.
Displaying Power in dBm and Watts
Step 7. Press the
UNITS
soft key to display power in Watts.
Displaying Relative Power
Step 8. With the desired base power level input to the Site Master, press the
REL
soft
key. The message area will show
REL: ON
and the power reading will indicate
100%.
Step 9. Press the
UNITS
soft key to display power in dBm. Since REL is ON, the power
reading will be in dBr, relative to the base power level.
