6.7. Lawn maintenance
- To maintain a green, smooth and attractive lawn, it must be mowed regularly without
damaging the lawn. A lawn can be made up of different types of grass. If the lawn is
mowed frequently, the grass and roots grow stronger, forming a solid lawn. If the lawn
is mowed less often, taller grass and weeds start to grow (plus daisies and clovers,
etc.).
- It is always better to mow the grass when it is dry.
- The blades must be in good condition and well sharpened so that the grass is cut
straight without a jagged edge that leads to yellowing at the ends.
- The motor must be running at full speed, both to ensure a sharp cut of the grass and
to get the necessary thrust to push the clippings through the collection channel.
- Mowing frequency should be related to the growth rate of the grass. The grass should
not be allowed to grow too long between one cut and the next.
- During hot, dry periods, the grass should be cut a little higher to prevent the soil from
drying out.
- The best grass height on a well-kept lawn is approx. 4-
5cm. With one cut, it is not necessary to remove more
than a third of the total height. If the grass is very tall,
it should be mowed twice in a twenty-four hour period:
the first time with the blades at maximum height,
possibly reducing the width of cut, and the second time
cut to the desired height.
- When mowing large areas, start by turning to the right so cut grass is discharged away
from bushes, fences, driveways, etc. After one or two turns, cut in the opposite direction
making left turns until finished.
- The appearance of the lawn will be improved if you alternate cutting in both directions.
- If the collection system tends to get blocked by grass, you should reduce the forward
speed as it may be too high for grass conditions. If the problem persists, the probable
causes are dull blades or deformed fins.
- Be very careful when mowing near bushes or curbs as these could distort the horizontal
position of the mower deck and damage its edge and blades.

MAINTENANCE
7.1. Security recommendations
Before cleaning or maintenance work, remove the ignition key and read the relevant
instructions. Wear proper clothing and work gloves whenever your hands are at risk.
Never use the machine with worn or damaged parts. Defective or worn parts should always be
replaced and not repaired. Only use original spare parts: Parts that are not of the same quality
can damage the equipment and affect your safety and that of others.
Never dispose of used oil, fuel, batteries or other contaminants in unauthorized places.
