For HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection) sources, HDTV fences will limit component and RGB
analog output resolutions to 720p or 1080i. 1080p is available only on HDTV device HDMI or DVI
interfaces which employ HDCP encryption. An HDCP session results in the exchange of keys
between the source and display devices. The source device will send a query to the display to
make sure the equipment is HDCP compliant before video content is shown. Non-HDCP devices,
such as PC’s and older model DVI products, will work with any DVI compliant display, but the HDCP
compliant boxes will show an image only on HDCP compliant displays.
*
NOTE
* when displaying HDCP protected sources on non HDCP compliant equipment, the following
message will be displayed on the device VFD screen :
“Due to HDCP content, non HDCP screens cannot display protected sources”
Screen will go to black without displaying the HDCP input image, or partially mask out non HDCP
content.
*
TIP
* In order to solve HDCP protection problems, try to use the component output of your HDTV
device or Blu-Ray player.
