IMPORTANT!
To minimize trips up and down
ladder, review procedure first before attempting to
attach outdoor housing. Lay out and prepare parts
accordingly.
Preparing the Housing for
Attachment
Perform the following steps on the ground.
1. Open box containing outdoor housing and
remove parts.
2. Remove environmental PC board from
outdoor housing (Figure 2).
a. The environmental PC board is attached to
a black plastic base inside housing. Touch
metal of housing to discharge static
electricity BEFORE touching board.
b. As shown in Figure 2, inside the base is a
molded plastic spring finger that holds the
board in place. 1) Press this finger and 2)
gently pull on red dust cover to remove
board.
c. Gently remove red dust cover from 32-pin
connector and inspect finger contacts. For
reliable connections, all contacts should be
at least 2mm above surface of connector.
d. Reattach dust cover and put board in a
safe, dry place.

3. Removing PC board reveals strain relief
assembly, Dismantle assembly and modify
bushing (Figure 3).
Note:
If the inside diameter of the bushing and
strain relief that come with the connector is not
sufficient for the number of cables passing
through the connector, use wider bushings [g,i]
and strain reliefs [h,j] provided.
a. Unscrew finger-tight machined cap and
remove bushing and strain relief ring from
assembly. If cap is too tight to remove by
hand, use 1-1/8" open-ended wrench or
pliers to remove.
b. Using a razor blade or scissors, split one
side of bushing so it can spread around
cable. The strain relief is already split.
c. Place bushing and strain relief in
safe place for future use.
