THE BP1 ELECTRONIC AIR CLEANER REQUIRES CONNECTION TO A 24 VOLT POWER
SOURCE. DO NOT CONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY CORD TO 110 VOLTS. IN SOME NEWER
SYSTEMS THE HUMIDIFIER TERMINAL MAY BE 24 VOLTS. THIS IS SUITABLE FOR
CONNECTION. BE SURE TO CHECK WITH A VOLTMETER.
The BP1 electronic air cleaner retro-fits into any one inch filter opening. Remove the existing one inch air
filter and replace it with the BP1 electronic air cleaner. Next, connect the power cord supplied to a low voltage
power supply. In most cases you will have a variety of choices. Some of the newer systems have a 24 volt
terminal for humidifiers and other low voltage system accessories.
The BP1 air cleaner can be powered from this source. Be sure to identify that the terminal is 24 volts. A
second common option is to locate the low voltage 24 volt transformer within the system. This transformer is
ideal and can be easily used to power the this electronic air cleaner. The BP1 draws a very small amount of
current and will not overload the system. The air cleaner can be connected permanently to the 24 volt side of
the transformer without any need for switching. The BP1 air cleaner requires less than two watts of power to
operate.
Note: using an AC volt meter be sure to identify the correct terminals. The terminal voltage needs to read
between 24 and 30 volts ac. Also identify which terminal, if any, is connected to the equipments frame. This
can be done by connecting one of the leads of the meter to the equipments frame and the other lead to either
terminal. The grounded terminal will not have a voltage on it. Connect the BP1 power cord as shown in figure
#1.
The side of the power cord that has a white stripe on it is connected to the grounded terminal. Once you have
connected the power cord to the 24 volt power source insert the power cord plug into the BP1 electronic
powerhead. At this point the small led light on the powerhead will turn on indicating full power. If the small
led light is not on then the BP1 air cleaner will not operate properly. Re-check your voltage to be sure the air
cleaner is receiving power.
The BP1 electronic air cleaner has been designed to operate with constant power or in series with the
systems fan. Both methods will permit reliable, long term, performance.
