Appendix III: ABS (Albatron BIOS
Security) Card Setup
Introduction
The ABS (Albatron BIOS Security) function will provide your BIOS a backup, even when
your onboard BIOS is damaged and to cause the system unpowered. You can just insert
an ABS card (optional) onto the mainboard ABS header, and through setting the card
jumpers, the enabled ABS function will assist you to recover your onboard BIOS.
Setup Steps
Please follow the steps below to correct use ABS card lest you damage the card or
mainboard by using the improper way.
1.
Remove the jumpers on the mainboard ABS header (
See Figure1
), and insert the ABS
card (optional) on it. Set the card ABS_JP1 header jumpers to the location of “Rescue
BIOS” (
See Figure2
).
2.
Power on the system and put the BIOS recovering floppy disk or CD into your driver,
your system will be powered on due to the rescue BIOS is enabled.
3.
When the screen shows the DOS, remember set the card ABS_JP1 header jumpers to
the location of “Onboard BIOS” firstly (
See Figure2
). After adjusting the card jumpers,
start to process the BIOS recovering procedure, the data then will be saved into your
onboard BIOS for recovering.
4.
When you are done the BIOS recovering process, remove the ABS card while the
system is shut down, and put the jumpers back on the mainboard ABS header (
See
Figure1
)with default location (
Note:
The jumper 1 should be on the pin1-2, and
jumper 2 should be on the pin 3-4).
5.
When you second time power on the system, your onboard BIOS should successful
be recovered.
Attention
1.
You can also choose not to remove the ABS card when you
are done the BIOS recovering process, but remember to put
the card ABS_JP1 header jumpers back to the location of
“Onboard BIOS” (
See Figure2)
, in case the ABS card rescue
BIOS will be damaged. __
2.
If you
do not
plan to use the ABS card, we recommend you to
put the mainboard ABS header jumpers (
See Figure1
) back to
the default location (Note: The jumper 1 should be on the
pin1-2, and jumper 2 should be on the pin 3-4). If you
do
plan
to use the ABS card, please avoid to remove the card ABS_JP1
header jumpers (
See Figure2
). Otherwise, your system may
not be powered on, also your ABS card and mainboard may
be damaged.
3.
If both of your onboard BIOS and rescue BIOS are damaged,
the ABS card will lose the function of recovering the BIOS.
Hence, it is recommend you to recover the onboard BIOS
first, and use the ABS card when accidences happened.
