How to start the Windows
®
2000/XP Fresh Installation with Serial ATA device ?
Follow the instructions in this section if you are performing a new installation of Windows
®
2000/XP,
and you wish to boot from a device attached to the SATA connector.
1. Copy the “Silicon RAID Driver” from the bundle CD Driver to a floppy disk.

2. Power off the system. Connect the SATA hard disk to the SATA connectors. Power up the system.
3. Put your Windows 2000/XP CD into the CD-ROM/DVD drive. When the “Windows Setup”
screen displays then press “F6”.
4. Press 's' when setup asks if you want to specify an additional device, and insert the floppy disk
which include the “Silicon RAID Driver” into the floppy driver.
Press 'Enter' and select “Silicon Image Sil 3112 SATARaid Controller for Windows XP/Server” or
“… for Windows NT/2000” then press 'Enter'.
5. Press 'Enter' again to continue setup process.
6. Follow the setup instructions to select your choice for partition and file system.
7. After setup examines your disks, it will copy files to Windows 2000/ XP installation folders and
restart the system. The setup program will continue and finish the installation after restart.
8. Wait until Windows 2000/ XP finishes installing devices, regional settings, networking settings,
components, and final set of tasks, reboot the system if it is required.
How to install the SiIicon RAID driver ?
Follow the instructions in this section to install the “Silicon Raid Driver” on a system already running
operating system.
1. After install the “nForce chipset Driver”. Restart the system, the screen below will display. Select
